Design District: Our New Studio

by Stephanie Hannington-Suen

We have found our new home in Design District. Opening this October, located just one minute from North Greenwich station. This is where we’ll be manufacturing all of our products and where we hope to have a small shopping area and a space to host group workshops and multiple pop-ups.

Design District is a permanent home for the creative industries with 16 buildings by eight pioneering architects. Our unit is in building A4 designed by David Kohn Architects and beneath the iconic Design District signage. Construction isn’t quite finished but here is a glimpse of inside our studio.

We love the industrial aesthetic of the brickwork and hope to leave most of it exposed and we’ll be adding lots of plants in the studio to compliment the green windows.

We’re hoping to have lots of open shelving for storage and a large tiled table for the perfume oil, bath soak and candle making workshops.

Design District is well worth the visit just to see all the beautifully designed buildings such as the a new members club for creatives, Bureau with the undulating white facade or the weathered steel C2 building which couldn’t help but remind us of the Pacha Design rusted vessels.

One of our favourite buildings has to be building A2, designed by 6A Architects. Love the combination of materials and colour and the diamond shaped windows inspired by artist Richard Artschwager's Formica sculptures.

There are so many things to do at Design District including an open air basketball court with incredible views of London.

As well as the canteen which is housed in a greenhouse structure which will have a variety of food vendors which we cannot wait to try.
